1st Birthday Celebrations

CONGRATULATIONS! You survived the first year and you nearly now have a one year old! Capturing your baby turning one on their first ever birthday is just as important as capturing their newborn stage. At this age your baby has now got their own cheeky little personality emerging and you are catching glimpses of your babies traits and characteristics. Cake smash photography is a perfect way to celebrate your little one's first birthday. These shoots are super relaxed but also a lot of fun and playful.

Whether you want classic first birthday shots which are solely baby focused, or a fun cake smash, we have options to tailor your package perfectly to you and your baby. Sessions take place between 2-4 weeks before their actual birthday. This way, you are able to have your gallery ready in time for the big day, or you can arrange for it to take place closer to their birthday if you would like to use your session to celebrate them turning one.

How does it work

All packages require a £49 non-refundable deposit to secure your session, which is then deducted from the package cost. Once you have booked in, you will be emailed over a preparation guide full of important information on what to bring and how to prepare for the session.  Sessions last around 90 minutes and are completely led by the little one. When you arrive, we will go through and choose the outfits as we have a little chat and I introduce myself to your little one.

The session is then split into 3 parts -

Firstly, I encourage family and sibling portraits to introduce baby to the camera and to help them feel more comfortable. Don't worry if you don't want to be fully included, we can do some shots where your face is not in the photo but you are holding their hands whilst they try to take a step, or they are leaning over your shoulder have a cuddle. Sometimes the little one can take a while to warm up, but don't be worried if this happens. It is very relaxed and we work at the pace of how they are feeling.

Secondly, my favourite part: we bring out the cake! If your baby is on the move, this can keep them still for a few minutes which is always a winner. They will then have fun exploring and eating the cake whilst I snap away and capture their personality. This part can get extremely messy for everyone involved, but it is honestly so much fun!

Lastly, baby will then have a splash in the white bathtub. This is often just as fun as the cake smash and promises the cutest pictures. Bubbles will be brought out and we will put some of their favourite songs on to have a little dance too.

When the session has finished, we will then arrange a date for you to come back to the studio for your viewing appointment, in which you will be shown a slideshow of all of the images taken which are only softly edited at this time. You will then make your selection on which package you would like to purchase and full payment will need to be made. Payment plans are also available for package 3, this will be discussed at the time.

Once payment has been received, I will then work within the timeframe I have advised you to deliver your gallery to you on your own personalised online gallery. If you have purchased a package with any products, or you have purchased any additional wall art products, this will also be discussed at your viewing appointment and these will be ordered and a timeframe will be given to you in when you will be able to collect them from the studio. Any prints or products are to be collected within 1 month of arrival at the studio.

Cake smash photography is available for older babies too. It can be a great way to celebrate any age. Sessions can also be carried out without a cake too.
